Outlook 2010 receives 0x8004010F: 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'
We have two companies which are merging together. Currently both are running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3.
When we migrate a user from Source to Target the move is successful. However a number of users are receiving "Outlook data file cannot be accessed" after the migration.
We have confirmed this is not the OAB, as we can download the OAB successfully even with the error.
Email is received fine until the error happens. Calendars look correct.
The error ONLY happens if there is an item attempting to be sent. If we clear the outbox and click send/receive, we receive no error. As soon as a new email is attempted to be sent, we receive the error.
The exact error is:
! Task 'user@domain.com - Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'
Deleting the OST file and allowing it to recreate does not resolve the problem.
A temporary band-aid we've found is to delete the outlook profile and recreate it. After this is done, the problem does not return. However, we have nearly 1,000 users to migrate and we cannot recreate outlook profiles for each.
Please help!

Unfortunately that doesn't work. I've tried a number of switches with outlook (most of the /clean*** ones that don't destroy data,) with no luck.
Actually Outlook.exe /cleanprofile doesn't exist in 2010 does it?
I can't seem to find any information on that switch anymore, and it doesn't work.

I have determined the actual cause of this issue, but I cannot come up with a scripted solution.
The problem is, once a user is migrated, Outlook is blanking out their Outlook Data file setting located in the below picture. This is what our outlook profiles look like after a user is migrated.
If I choose "change folder," I have no options to select aside from creating a new PST file. Just selecting the mailbox and choosing OK, does nothing.
Once I create a new PST file and make it the default folder, that field shows information as you would expect. Email works at this point (albeit sending it to a local PST file.)
After specifying it to default to a PST file, I can select the change folder button again, this time I can select the mailbox and choose ok. After this the the location is updated and all continues to work, as seen below
At this point I guess I either need to find a Microsoft fix for this, or if there is a way to overwrite the "corrupt" blank setting with the default OST file without manually touching each user.

No other solutions were given, and we were able to figure the fix out ourselves.
If you opwn outlook using
Start>Run>Outlook.exe /cleanprofile
does this fix it?
If it does, you may be able to add it as a startup task for the users at logon'
