Outlook 2010 not remembering typed email addresses
Hello all, I could use some help.
I have a computer that is not remembering typed email addresses in Outlook 2010.
I have tried several different methods to fix it, starting with deleting the cache where it stores the email addresses it is supposed to remember and having it rebuild the whole thing. Next, I emptied the Auto-Complete list through Outlook (File > Options > Mail > Send Messages > Empty Auto-Complete List). After this did not work, I even ran the Microsoft "Fix it for me" app from their support website (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287623/en-us). I even went so far as to remove the email account from outlook, reinstall outlook, and rebuild the email account. This did not work either.
The strange thing is that it will remember some email addresses (not necessarily addresses on the local domain (in the Global Contacts List)), but not all. Even more strange is that the addresses it remembers changes from time to time. For instance, sometimes it will remember a select few of the local domain email addresses, but then a week later it won't remember those, but it will remember different ones. Sometimes it does the same thing with outside email addresses.
Any ideas on what to do next?

Actually scratch my comment.. 2010 discontinued use of the nk2 file and now stores all Auto Complete information in the mailbox itself.

I went ahead and checked permissions on the folder containing the pst file, it was set to the standard user privileges (which I believe says "Modify") so I changed that to Full Control just for the heck of it.
one of my users had similar issue when he closed his outlook it would delete all the remembered email addresses. there was a particular email address that kept corrupting his list, it was fixed by deleting his ost and clearing the auto-complete. but also had same issue with nk2 had to use extractor to find the corrupted email address after deletion worked perfectly.

Well, it's been about 5 days and so far Outlook is still remembering the email addresses. Again, the only thing I've done differently is changed the user persmissions on the folder containing the .ost file from "Modify" to "Full Control." Let's hope this continues to work, thanks for your help.
