Windows 7 cached domain credentials

We have some new laptops running Windows 7. These are domain members. When the user takes the laptop home, the domain login credentials fail because a domain controller can't be found. With Windows XP, we used to be able to do this, presumably because XP cached the domain information. I have edit the registry key - hklm/software/microsoft/windowsnt/currentversion/winlogon and changed the cachedlogonscount from 0 to 50. Upon reboot, this value reverts to 0. I have not found any Group Policies on the domain controllers that would change this back.

Have you looked at your setting here ??

Hi, is this happening when the user suspends or shuts down the laptop? Tried suspending at work and logging on at home?
Also, a user has to log into the domain at least once before cached logons work.

ASKER

I un-joined the domain and joined a workgroup. When I rebooted and logged into local machine, the registry key above was enabled and had a value of 10. When I rejoined the domain, the value reverted to 0 and was greyed out, so no caching was allowed. There must be some setting on the domain that controls that, but so far I haven't located it.
