Delegate able to view Inbox subfolders without viewing mail at top level
Our organization uses Microsoft Outlook 2010 with our Exchange servers residing at the corporate level. We have no access to the servers. So, I am looking for a possible solution at the user level. Manager, "Bob", has a sub-folder under his Inbox that he keeps mail sent to him about one specific subject. "Bob" is delegating a project to employee, "Jane", which requires she have access to all of these communications, past, present, and future. "Bob" does not want to stop being the main point of contact, and "Jane" will not be on this project forever.
"Bob" wants to be able to delegate "Reviewer" rights to "Jane" for sub-folder of his Inbox. However, "Bob" does not want "Jane" to be able to see any of his mail residing in his top-level Inbox.
I've tried adding "Jane" as a delegate. But, even with the lowest rights, she can still see his e-mail in the Inbox. I've tried setting "Folder Visible" Permissions to Inbox for "Jane" and "Reviewer" Permissions to sub-folder for "Jane". When I choose to open "Other User's Folder" and select Inbox for "Bob", it opens without error, but says there are no items to display for this view and sub-folder is not visible at all.
Is this scenario even possible at the user level?

This worked with a few additional steps. I moved the folder to the root of "Bob's" mailbox as stated. In addition, I had to right-click on the top level of the mailbox and choose "Data File Properties..." In here, I went to the "Permissions" tab and added "Jane" with Permission Level of "None", but in the "Other" section I selected "Folder Visible".
I then chose the "Properties...", "Permissions" tab for the sub-folder I wanted "Jane" to have access to that has now been moved to the root of the mailbox and allowed "Reviewer" permission for "Jane".
After that, I went to "Jane's" Outlook and went to "File", "Account Settings", "Account Settings", highlighted her name, then clicked on "Change..." In the next window, I clicked on the "More Settings..." button. In the next window, I selected the "Advanced" tab. I added "Bob" here.
At this point, "Bob's" account appeared in "Jane's" folder listing and, when I clicked on it, I had read capabilities of only the one sub-folder in "Bob's" account.
It works! Thank you!
