cannot delete mac program
I have a mac running OS 10.7.5. I installed airport utility ,the new version and wanted to uninstall 5.6. I thought I did, you can see it has zero bytes. when I try to delete the program, I get the following error. (see screenshot). I also tried reinstalling the 5.6, I get the same error.
how can I delete what is remaining of the 5.6 so I can reinstall 5.6?
thanks

I did that and I still get the error after I drag it to the trash can

I noticed the size of the file is zero bytes. Could it be corrupted?
Can you drag it to the trash? If so try using the terminal and write:
cd ~/.Trash
rm -f *
If you can't drag it to trash, can you create a folder on your desktop and drag it there?
If you can you can try the same from terminal using that folder.
cd ~/.Trash
rm -f *

Hi ttrbrtsn,
If you tried all of the above and nothing is working you will have to boot into Safe mode: Shutdown your Mac, hold shift until you see the start screen then let go. After that you should be able to delete your corrupt application. If not, then repost and we will have to go a different route.
Hope this helps.

Also, don't forget to repair permissions (via the Disk Utility). The file permissions get messed up quite often. Repairing them can cure a multitude of ills.

Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering if ttrbrtsn used any of our suggestions to delete the possibly corrupt application? If so, we all should get a few points. Time Machine (TM) wouldn't delete the application but it would allow ttrbrtsn to rollback to a point where the application wasn't there. If this is the case then I would say the request is valid. If not, we certainly deserve something for our collective efforts.
Very Respectfully,

I agreed with MacGuy47.
Please right-click on 5.6 and scroll down to "Get Info"/ Scroll down to "Sharing & Permissions" / Click the lock at the bottom of the screen if it shows locked, if not then select your username in the box and select "Read & Write"/ If your username is not there, then click the (+) symbol and add it. After that you will be able to drag the old airport utility to the trash.
Hope this helps.
