Why this Exchange database backup failed on Exchange 2010 server?

This is using MS Exchange 2010 standard on MS Windows 2008 R2 server. We are using Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 to backup exchange database. The backup server is another Windows 2008 R2 server, also running as a DC. Symantec backup exec agent was installed on this Exchange server. but, no matter how we tried, the exchange database backup always failed with the following error message:

V-79-57344-65233 - A0F0: Initilization failure on: "\\Exchange.home.local\Microsoft Information store\Mailbox database 0576686102". Advanced Open file option used: Microsoft Volume shadow copy service (VSS).

Snapshot provider error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer Status.

Check the Windows Event Vierwer for details.

Writer Name: Exchange Server, Writer ID: {76FE1AC4-4BCD-987E-8E1ACB462FB7], last error: The VSS Writer failed, but the operation can be retried {0x800423f3}, state: Waiting for backup complete notification (5).

What was wrong? how to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance.

I guess looking at the error your Writer status is "Waiting for Completion"

Until this is put to Stable ... shouldnt be "Failed or Waiting for Completion" .... to get into this state you will have to restart the Information Store service ... meaning the Exchange Databases would be down for that time

After restarting the Exchange server, suddenly backup on exchange can be completed without problem.

Hi Rancy,

Please see your statement:

you will have to restart the Information Store service ... meaning the Exchange Databases would be down for that time

You were suggested to restart the info store service, not the whole exchange server.
Good to see you saw my statement what about the statement by the Expert "Ash007" ??

Check for exchange writer state if its showing retryable or failed need to reboot the Exchange server
