Windows 2008 R2 Datacentre Hyper-V Raid config & Setup

We have recently purchased 2 x Dell R610, c/w 48gb RAM & a MD3220 c/w 18x300gb SAS drives.

So far I've installed 2008 R2 Datacentre on both machines, System Centre Essentials 2010 on one and used up  2 x 300 gb's for storing the WSUS updates and system centre files.

We wish to Virtulize around 8 server's, all are doing hardling anything (file print, FTP for our DMS system, Regtime for Shop Floor Reporting, Bes server)

What would the best config be for the raid & drives.

I was thinking of the following:

2 x 300GB (Raid 1) - WSUS updates
6 x 300GB (Raid 10) - VM images
2 x 300GB (Raid 1) Log files for the VM's
6 x 300GB (Raid 10) - Data file location for the vm's

(The remaing two drives are for hot swap for all raid's)
(The machines which are being placed on the Host will be windows 2003 server's, the OS's are either 30GB or 80 GB in size)

I've heard that I need to separate the logs and the vm' image files and place on separate raids....I's this correct?
