FMPRO 12 container field
I created a container field, selected "insert" for a PDF file and selected "store as a reference" so that it would open in native program. When I select the field, FMPro just locks up for a while and then inserts an icon which does not respond to a mouse click. Any advice?
Windows or Mac? PDF file on HDD or network share? PDF version, restrictions? (last one shouldn't make any difference but you never know) File size? Non-standard characters in filename or path?

Interesting, Willmen. On my FMP12, I right click on the container field to insert the pdf. Why did you set up a button? I also notice that you set the container field to Images rather than interactive content. Shouldn't it be the reverse for PDF?
You said that your goal was to have the PDF open in it's native program. When you have interactive content selected, FM assumes that you want to open it within FM. So for example, an MP3 file would open directly in FM and allow you to play it. If you want it to open in the native application then you should use the static field option.
I added the button solely for demonstration purposes. Right-click or using the menu works fine as well.

I don't get why FMPro offers a PDF option under interactive when it simply doesn't do anything.

Thanks for the baby steps Will. Could you please look at my other question about phone field format?
