Windows 7 updates only when laptop is plugged in
Hi there,
I have a strange situation on my laptop:
Windows 7, Dell Inspiron patched untill december 2012.
There are updates ready for this machine but since a last broken install I don't want to install them yet untill I have solved the update problem on shutting down the machine.
When I have the laptop on battery power and I want to shutdown the machine no updates show up and the laptop shuts down.
If i plug in the laptop and try to shut it down, the Windows shield appears and the laptop informs me installing update 1 of 3.
This takes a very long time and even after 48 hours the laptops stays on 1 of 3.
I didn't install any updates and can't see any strange status in Windows Update screen.
Any advice on this?
I know it is good behaviour that the laptop doesn't install updates on battery power but I want to be able to shut the laptop down without having to unplug the power everytime.
Thanks in advance!

Wow thnx guys, gonna try this all out tomorrow on work!
Hi Did any of these help you solve your problem.
go to control panel > Programs and Features> installed updates. check the last windows update which was installed on your laptop, uninstall the same & run MicrosoftFixit50202.msi & restart the laptop.
The laptop doesn't apply patches on battery power, for some branded laptops the ACPI function doesn't support patch update when on battery backup.
