Upgrade iPhone 3GS to iOS 6 from baseband 06.15.00 (iPad) and OS 4.2.1?

The phone is jailbroken and unlocked (with RedSn0w). I have Cydia installed. How do I upgrade the iOS to 5x or 6x and preserve the baseband?

Really IanTh that is news to me. Can Apple also send me a beer over the air too? If you update your iOS version then a jailbreak is gone.... and you can update over the air if YOU touch all the right buttons, but Apple certainly does not do this themselves without user interaction.

Be sure to post back that this was the correct answer. Especially post back that on your ipad baseband that you installed you could upgrade to ios6.
