moving outlook exchange profile to new computer

I am moving my emails to new computer, but cant download all of my 3GB Exchange emails over a limited wireless connection. Can I setup profile on new computer (offline cached mode), then disconnect from wireless, import my old ost emails (converted to PST), then go online? Will exchange recognize it does not need to download anything again? Or is this just asking for problems?

If your current Outlook profile is configured for Exchange Server, all emails are always kept on the server unless you have Outlook archive them to a .pst file or you move emails from your Inbox to a .pst file.

If this is the case, you can simply create a new Outlook profile on any computer and configure Exchange with or without caching.  Emails are not downloaded and removed from the Exchange server unlike a POP3 connection.

Sorry, I did not explain my question well. I have a very limited wireless broadband connection and cant download all my emails from exchange to my new computers offline OST file as I will go over my monthly download limit. This is why I have exported them to a PST file and would like to then import this PST file to my new computer Outlook profile. Then when I go online hopefully exchange can see that I have all the emails in my local OST file and will not try to download them again.

I hope that this explanation makes a bit more sense. If not, perhaps what I am trying to do is just not possible.
