Cisco VPN on Windows 8

Dear Experts,

I have a strange problem with the Cisco VPN client (V 5.0.07.0440) and Windows 8. I installed the VPN Client on my Windows 8 computer and it all works. But when i'm connected to with the VPN i don't get any access to the network on the other side.

I tried this all from a Windows 7 computer with the same VPN Client and that does work. I think its a windows 8 issue but im not sure. I already disabled my Kaspersky Anti-Virus, shut down my Windows firewall.

Im kinda out of options.

Check the HOSTS file on the Windows 7 machine. Do you have a server entry in the HOSTS file? If so, you need to add this entry to the Windows 8 machine.

Can you access remote network resources by IP Address?

I don't have anything in my HOSTS file. Unfortunetly i also cannot access the network by IP.
You might need a different VPN client. I use NCP Secure Entry (www.ncp-e.com). They have a free trial you can check. NCP handles NAT traversal better than most clients and that is a possibility.

Since you got connected, the basis settings must be the same.

I have had the same issue and contacted TAC about it. Although Pete's workaround might/will work, it is not a bug but a limitation and, in my opinion, an attempt from Cisco to force people to start using AnyConnect instead of the Cisco VPN client.
sounds to me like the VPN network may be on the same range ? Can you double check ?

Thank you alle for the replays

@Thinkpads_user:
NCP is payed software and that is not what i'm looking for. It is kind of a last resort option for me.

@PeteLong:
I had this error at first an found the same solution as you gave me. But that is not the problem i'm having now.

@MAG03
I'm not sure if it is a limitation. My boss got the same Cisco VPN client on his windows 8 laptop and he has no problem at all.

The only diffrance is our own firewall has OS 7.2 and the firewall of my customer has os 8.4. Configuration is the same and i doubt if the problem lies in the version diffrances.

@innocentdevil
I double checked and the range is diffrent.
VPN software is fairly complicated and after a lot of work and experience, I settled on NCP because it just works better in all circumstances. You can try it for free to see if it fixes your problem.

Shrew Soft makes a free client that does work but is not as good as NCP.
