Access 2010 - Continuously installing & Configuring @ launch
I have an installation as follows:
* Windows 7 - 64 bit
* Office 2010 standard
* Access 2010
* Project 2007.
Whenever I launch Access, it goes through the install 'configuration process with pop-up windows that state:
"Please wait while Windows Installs/Configures Microsoft Office Access 2012"
This only happens when Project 2007 is installed on the same machine.
I have Deleted all office products and reinstalled them, I have tried registry cleaners/hacks, installing a fresh Windows build, and installing the Office products in different order.
Nothing has resolved this.

I can accept the install/config message to come up the 1st time I launch Access, but it comes up every time I launch Access.
A re-install/repair has not resolved it.

In addition, Access is the only 2010 application that does this.
Outlook, Word, Excel... all the Office 2010 aps launch perfectly ok after Project 2007 is installed.

As Peter said, if you do:
Open Access
Close ACcesss
Open Access
There should be no-reconfig. Put if you do anything with Project 2007 (and that includes in code), you'll get a re-config the next time you start Access.
FYI: Microsoft has always recommended against mixing Office installs.
Jim.

If you are getting the reconfig without any interaction with Project 2007, then you may have a munged install.
You can try an install cleaner, which will sometimes work:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651
After doing that, you could try a repair/reinstall.

With the rider against mixing office versions, you could try the reg key (and other) fixes here:

Thank you for your quick response
Re-config would be expected if you do
Open Accesss
(Close ACcess)
Open Project
(Close project)
Open Access
I would not expect a re-config if you do...
Open Access
Close ACcesss
Open Access
If you are getting one in this situation then it does sound like a problem, although I would still not know what to do about it other than re-install.
