asked on

firewall a T1 connection

we have a t1 conection which we want to firewall
the T1 router has an ip address of 172.30.10.x

we pluged the t1 connection to our firewall and dont know which ip mask and gateway to configure on the firewall interface for this connection

our goal is to allow a internal server on the lan 10.10.100.x to be natted as 172.50.20.x and go through the T1 connection

do we assign the firewall interface a 172.50.20 address or does it need to be a 172.30 .10 (same as t1 ip)

i only have one ip that was given to me (172.30.10.x)
its a cisco

i was not given a mask or gateway
If you want  lan 10.10.100.x  to be natted as 172.50.20.x, 172.50.20.x has to be allow to use by T1 provider.

we pluged the t1 connection to our firewall and dont know which ip mask and gateway to configure on the firewall interface for this connection

If you firewall is cisco, You can check the ARP table and see what the next hop is
 #show arp

Hope this help,
Regards,
Contact your T1 provider and request the TCP & DNS information. they should have provided you with that when they installed the T1.

I install T1's for a major company and that is standard practice.
should the T1 provide me with
ip
mask
and gateway info?
