Need mailbox clones without attachments but accessible via internet
Hi experts!
We could use some ideas. Right now, our exchange 2007 mailboxes are only accessible inhouse for security reasons - that's because the attachments often hold classified information. If it wasn't for the attachments, we could theoretically make those mailboxes available worldwide via OWA for example. We know that OWA can strip off attachments, yes.
Now our management would like to access the mailboxes worldwide and also from mobile devices to send mail or use the calendar. What management does not need are attachments, so we could use OWA, but we don't want our exchange server to be directly accessible via internet at all.
How would you address this problem? Could we for example setup a second exchange server, some kind of clone but without attachments? I hope this does not sound ridiculous...
------
Edit: Ok, as there are no comments yet, I would like to add what is considered our best bet until now: use OWA via VPN (with the aforementioned option to strip attachments). The VPN server would be open VPN on a hardened linux, not on the exchange itself.
Better ideas still welcome.

This seems to be one way to solve it. But for us, this is too big. We used attachment-free-owa + open VPN. Thanks
