Out of Office Exchange 2010

Hi there, we are having a problem with OOF only sending to internal users. I have run the exchange connectivity tests and the autodiscover fails on all methods.
I have a record setup to point to autodiscover.***.co.uk and when I ping this it is the external fixed ip the exchange server is on.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong from here on inwards.

That does not seem to be the same issue or am i being thick?
Sorry our DNS guy is away so we are on a sharp learning curve at the moment
Willing to pay for the support as this has been annoying me for a while
Autodiscover would only stop you from setting up OOTO, it doesn't stop it from working completely. Therefore while you should get the problem with Autodiscover resolved, it isn't the cause of your problems.

The first thing you should check is whether OOTO to the internet is enabled. This is in EMC, under Org Config, Hub Transport, Remote Domains. Right click on the * and choose Properties.

If it is, then use Message Tracking to see if the messages are being blocked, perhaps by AV or Antispam software.

Simon.
The answer to my head scratching.

I believe you spoke to someone this morning reporting that out of office messages from your exchange server were not being delivered to external addresses. I assume you are using the smtp.enta.net smart host to send outgoing mail. Out of office messages are sent with a null return path, many spam emails are also sent out this way. For this reason we do not allow messages with a null return path to be sent out via smtp.enta.net. If we were to allow this it would leave the server vulnerable to be used for spam.

We would advise that as you already have an exchange server that you send out directly via that by DNS. This would give you greater control and also leave you less likely to be affected by blacklisting.
We have switched to DNS sending and normal mail sends ok but still no luck with auto reply emails. We can still recieve them when its an internal mail and the message tracking shows the creation and sending of the Out of Office reply but it never gets delivered.
I have setup an auto discover email A record to our outside ip but still the exchange connectivity tests fail?
We are using Trend Worry Free Business v8 if that helps but i have stopped all the services on this and still no luck
What does message tracking actually show? Does it show the message as being delivered? If the generation is happening then the problem isn't with Exchange. Although do check that you have OOTO to the internet enabled in Remote Domains.

Simon.
It is saying the message has been delivered and no longer possible to track
It should say where the message was delivered to. That would tend to point to the problem being outside of Exchange though.

Simon.
I thought this to be honest exchange is behaving as it should. Time to remove the av out of the equation I think.
