please clarify what sql server version\edition (64 or 32bit) you try to install <br />
what is your OS version\edition?<br />

and if you have the windows local admin rights<br />
if you do and it is windows 2008 &nbsp;x64 bit &nbsp; - start you install from right click &quot;run as admin&quot; even you are local admin..

When I try to install SQL SErver 2008 by click in SQL Server Installation Center on &quot;New SQL Server STand-Alone installation or add features to an existing installation&quot; I get message that the folder is not a valid installation folder. No matter what folder I choose I get the same message. <br />
