My hosting company wants my password...
My new hosting company LOGOINN is setting up my site for me and they just asked me for my password to my domain (my password and username on canspace.ca). This sounds strange... They would have access to all my account info and everything.
1- Why would they want this, and should I give it to them? (my gut says NO)
2- What exactly do they need to set up my site on their server in terms of my domain name? Name servers or anything like that?
Thanks

Thanks, I will not give it to them. I will do as you say and add them add a restricted access user, but only if they absolutely need it. I'll try to give them the name servers first.
Thanks for your help.

Well I just got the response from LogoInn:
Here is my message:
Hello:
Unfortunately, I do not like to give access to my account to others.
Please let me know what you need to do (provide name servers, etc.) and I will do it.
Thank you,
LogoInn Response:
Hi
Thanks for the response
If you do not want to provide us the information we will than provide you the website source files [sic] so that you can do it by yourself.
Regards
LogoInn Team
My solution: they can take back their free year of hosting, and I'll go to another host.

Yea I would not trust my hosting to a logo company when there are so many hosting companies. http://www.experts-exchang e.com/Inte rnet/Web_D evelopment /Q_2800487 7.html

Small correction for posterity... I made a mistake in one of my answers to this post:
**Where I said I would give them the name servers, I meant request their name servers.**
I am still leaving this company ASAP.

fwiw - I'd be looking for a NEW new host if they asked me that with or without explanation. No need for that ever.
