Win 2000 Pro - RDP Connection 2008 R2 Terminal Service

Dear experts,

is it possible to use a Windows 2008R2 RDP session with a Windows 2000 Pro client ?

Thanks in advance

Yes you can do it however it is not supported as it causes the server to fall back to an RDP 5.2 compatibility mode which obviously means you lose features and it doesn't look as nice!

I know this can cause issue like color depths mismatching and so nothing appears on user screen without tweaks on server and client etc.  So yes it does work but you may find you have to play with it to get it working I'm afraid, certainly a LOT safer to upgrade and personally I would always recommend that course of action.

We will upgrade to an newer operating system, but we need to use the terminalserver already?

At the moment I get a security message, If I try to connect to the 2008R2 with the windows 2k client. It simply do not work. How can we connect the clients anyway?

We changed the OS. Any other way was not practicable.
