Mac - You must change your password in order to access the server - Windows Server 2008
I have a user that is unable to access a network drive via SMB on a Server 2008 server because of a password error.

The error states:

Your password on the server "192.168.42.9" needs to be changed. You must change your password in order to access the server.

***See attached photo.

Her account on active directory does not specify her password needs to be changed. She is part of the Marketing group which as all the correct permissions to access the Advertising drive on the server.

The Mac has been in our MS environment for about 2 months and we have never had a problem accessing the drive in the past.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I don't understand why it would authenticate the user for two months and then suddenly stop.  Nothing changed in the environment.

I logged into a Windows machine to see if I could access the user's account and found the password had expired. On Active Directory the password was NOT set to "never expire". Because the user never logs into a Windows machine on the network I did not know the password had expired. I reset the password and adjusted the AD account setting so the password will never expire.

Also, I added a more complete path for the Mac to access the network drives I found on the Apple site:

smb://domain\username:password@server/sharename

ie. smb://contoso\bbrown:Pa$$word1 @ fshare01.contoso.com/ghost01$

Thanks MHMAdmins for the help and ideas!
