Remote Desktop Printing, only non-proportional fonts print properly, why?

Windows 2008 R2 RDS Remote Desktop, mostly working great for our remote users.

Except some weirdness with the remote user's redirected printers.   All documents print out looking good when a non-proportional font is used, use as Arial, Tahoma, etc.   But when font is proportional, such as Courier and Courier New, the print is fairly unreadable with many individual letter locations off, usually ontop, or squeezed next to the previous letter.    We're seeing this behavior for all RD hosted apps such as MS Word or Notepad.

We tried different printers, HP, Canon, etc.  All same behavior.
We tried (re)installing printer drivers via Control Panel. Same behavior.

We tried searching the MS websites for clues, including the long list of hotfixes available for Remote Desktop Services on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 at  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2601888

The RDS server is dedicated to RDS role, not a DC, not a Print Server, etc.

We are scratching our heads on this one....  just proportional fonts are failing to print out properly.

I'll close this and maybe rewrite the question with proper use of fixed-pitch & proportionally-spaced wording.    So far I still have no idea why our RDS user's "fixed-pitch" document print out are not working as expected to their redirected printers.
