Server 2008 R2 permissions
Hi Experts,
I am having issues with a new RDP server (2008 R2 64 bit) with an Accounting package called Myob.
Their support as per usual is not of any help saying : the program is doing what it was designed to do??? (Not work???)
Issue: If I run the program with admin users ...no issue.
The program asks for permissions at start up. Unless they have admin permissions, no go.
We set up a generic admin profile allowing access but the myob mapi profile uses that profile name for sending emails. Emails need to be send from individual users.
I don't want to make the users individually admins if I can avoid it!
My quesions: Who knows how I can reset the permissions for this program to work.
Any suggestions welcome.

compatibility mode would allow the program to run (and only this program to run), without the need to elevate their permissions or to have to start playing with any other rights/permissions.

I did think about compatibility mode, but this seems to be more a case of sloppy programming. It is true to say that some Devs forget that when they develop a solution they need to test it not only as themselves with their permissions but also as a standard restricted user.
As such, what seems to work 100% for them due to their elevated privileges does not work in the real world with real users. So the relaxing of the security template or the security permissions of the windows folder structure usually helps to resolve what would other wise require allowing admin rights to be assigned to users.
