Outlook search issues

One of my clients has a new Latitude laptop with Outlook 2010.  They are using hosted Exchange (Rackspace).

Her Outlook searches are not working.  When she does an email search (from the Quick Search box), it delivers results that do not include many of her emails that do in fact contain the search term.

When she does a search on Contacts, it says no results even when there is a contact containing the search term.

I started Outlook in Safe mode and search worked fine.  However, when I started normally and disabled add-ins, the problem resumed.

So it appears add-ins are not the problem, but something that is inactivated in Safe mode is the cause.  

I would appreciate any guidance on next steps.  Thanks!

I would say try with
Outlook /cleanrules

or try creating a new Outlook profile

Does it work fine with Webmail ? Reinstall Outlook and check if there is any Search addin

my tech found the solution
