Domain Controller issue.

Good day,

I am having an issue with a domain controller not working at a clients site.

The setup is 1 Physical server running Two VM's

SBS2011 running Exchange, and Active directory. This is the Domain Controller.
Server 2012 Running Remote Desktop.

A few times now I have not been about to log into the 2012 server. Getting the message.

"The Domain controller is not available at this time"

Upon restarting the SBS server I can log in without an issue however this seems to be the only fix.

I am unsure where to start, I can only assume this is a DNS issue.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks !

ASKER

Yes to both.

I can ping the SBS Server from the 2012 Server.
And I do have the DNS on the 2012 Server set to the SBS Server.

OK the issue has come back again.

NETLOGON EVENT
This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain SERVER due to the following:
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.

ADDITIONAL INFO
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain controller in the specified domain.

I restarted the Domain controller first,  this did not solve the issue like it has in the past. Only after restarting the 2012 Server that runs the RDP was the issue resolved.

Another issue this client has complained about is Outlook locking up. I seem to think that these two issues are related.

At this stage my train of thought is replace the router as it is quite old and it could be a network issue.  Plug in a second LAN cable to the server.

Other ideas would be more then welcome.

Thanks
