If you are getting the results you expect, ignore them. That is basically saying you didn't put in IsNull statements to account for blank rows.

it is updating some records but not the correct ones,
how do I see what has been updated?
You should be able to just delete the update statement and run it to see what results you are getting.
From there work backwards to correct the query.
