The entire LCD have to be replaced. I do not think that you have the parts, tools and skills to replace the CCFL bulbs as notebook computer is basically comprised of modular components and fixing it is to replace the defective component module.

Hi a friend just brought me his presario CQ57 laptop to check out and the backlight is not turning on, so the image is very dark. I figured the problem was the inverter so I took the LCD out and I do not see any inverter in here. So afer doing a bit of research it appears that the LCD is an LED LCD. I also found out in my research that the inverter is not needed for them, the board connected to the LCD acts as an inverter. <br />

So I was wondering if there is a way to change the LED (sort of like how the CCFL bulbs can be changed inside an CCFL LCD) or does the entire LCD have to be replaced?<br />
