windows 2008 R2 hangs when copying large files over network

Hi,

I recently bought a new server and have windows 2008 r2 standard installed. The server have 2 broadcom nics and i teamed them to 1 virtual nic. On my network there has an older windows 2003 servers and a qnap 4 bay nas, both contains some vmware workstation vms.

I tried to copy one of the vm (around 12G in size) from both windows 2003 server and the qnap nas to my new server and both cannot have stable throughput, it reached the max speed for a while then dropped to zero and then after some time it went back to the max speed.

And everytime i start copying the file then os become nearly unresponsive and even after the file copy finishes. the only way to “fix” the slowness is to logoff and log back on to the server (or reboot the box )

anyone have an idea about this issue? i tried disable tcp offloads (chimney, receive windows scaling etc) and also disable ipv6 but no luck. i also tried to reinstall the os.

thanks.
