SQL - using remote database value scaled functions

I have a local database say 'local' and remote database called  'remote' on 'RemoteMachine'

I am trying to run a SQL statement on the SSMS like

use local;

select RemoteMachine.remote.dbo.valueScaledFunction (a.field1) from local a

I got an error saying

cannot find either column "remote" or the user-defined function or aggregate "dbo.valueScaledFunction", or the name is ambiguous.
