Merging windows profiles

We have recently switched domain names, and we are currently running W2K8R2 server  Exchange 2010, mail is working fine however I have run into an issue whereby users still log onto the domain using the existing user name and password however they cannot access certain features i.e. if unless they can log on using their new user name / password for the new domain. However I am unsure how users can do this without creating a entirely new local profile. I guess my question here is, is there a way to merge windows domain profiles?

Thanks in advance for your help, advise and tips.
