I want to run the performance monitor on a winXP laptop to test my theory that it needs more RAM.
What would be the main counters I want to track?

I think it's time to upgrade to a 64 bit processor powered Laptop with Windows 8

Or upgrade past Windows 8 into Windows 7. I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with 8Gb of memory and it is nice and fast.

why does everybody want him change OS?
if he likes XP, or he needs it, just help him

if he likes XP, or he needs it, just help him

We have done that, but XP is dead, so we are also providing alternatives to consider.

Can't we all just get along? Don't worry about it, this is for a work pc, and I ended up watching processorexplorer while running things like powerpoints and things like that. it seemed to have benefited from msconfiging it and stripping it down to the essentials, and also updating video, and wireless drivers.
I thought xp was fine, but my home pc is a win8 - relative beast - with 16gb of ram. i love win7 but i think win8 is fine. To me it's just win7 with an awkward gui slapped on the top.
Thank you for the help.
