How to check the version of Toyota Navigation Unit
hi Automotive Experts!
is this the very FIRST question of this topic area?? i simply can't see any post under the TA.
OK, back to the question.
this is a Toyota Prius i-Tech (2009 ZVW30) which has built-in satellite navigation system. the navigation system has an internal audio system, which features radio, four CD changer, and optional auxiliary input. all things are integrated into one unit.
the whole unit is just replaced under warranty. i would like to know if the new one is exact same as the broken one, or has been updated. how to check the unit's version number??
for the new one, there is a '18033' at the lower-right corner of the front cover. i don't remember the previous one has such a sign there.
please be aware that i am NOT asking for the DVD map's version. this can be done by pressing Menu under Map then choosing DVD map.
any comments please?
thanks,
bbao

i actually checked the page before posting this question. the navigation system shown in the web page is totally different as the 2009 one (see below).
Info.

The replacement unit will certainly contain the latest firmware and software updates.i am not sure as the new one looks exactly like the previous one and i see nothing new or different after inspection.
Do you notice any new features? indicating an upgraded model.
The simplest way to find out would be to ask the service person that replaced the unit.per my experience, no. the service person simply removed the old one, installed the one, and ever had an interest to check the difference on version and features.
there is no way at all to check the version from somewhere in the screen menus or options??
thanks again.

probably the version info could be available under Service Mode or Diagnosis Mode?
how to enter the mode on Toyota Prius 2009?

This method may work for you too.

The method seems similar with other Toyota Nav.
1 Turn the ignition on
2 Hold down the INFO button
3 Turn the headlights on and off 3 (or more) times
This brings up the on-screen menue

thanks for sharing the information.
following the given steps, i now can successfully enter the 'Service Menu' with options listed: 'Failure Diagnosis' and 'Function Check/Setting'.
unfortunately, i still cannot see any version info from any option i see on the screen. Any clues please?
BTW, the low and high beam mode of headlight should be avoided when entering the diagnosis mode. initially, i always turned on the headlight in these two modes when trying the provided methods, all failed.

Only Toyota sevice can update your system, so I guess only Toyota service can provide the system version info.

in reality no such information available from the Toyota service, at least the one i deal with. they just simply inspect the car and repair it inside their workshop which has no customer access at all. that's basically why i am asking the question here.
is there any other mode of the navigation system, which may provide the required information?

If you see this link that I previously posted, it shows there are on-screen options that say:
Model Info.
Soft Version
Your system may ot may not present the same on-screen options?

no, there is no such an option. my navigation system looks totally different as that.
the screen shown from that link is, i believe, for standard Prius, which has no GPS navigation system equipped.

No expected answer, but good effort. Thanks.
"there is a '18033' at the lower-right corner of the front cover. i don't remember the previous one has such a sign there."
The model number and manufacture date is on the back of the unit.
Is is likely that you recieved an updated model as the original was a 2009 model...that is 4 years old and probably a discontinued model.
The replacement unit will certainly contain the latest firmware and software updates.
