but even when windows backup start, the service didn't start?
Did the backup complete successfully?
I haven't used Windows Backup for years, it is too limited in functionality so I always use a third party product.

yes it's completed successfully, but the logs not deleted, i chose full VSS backup, but even the logs stay.
Does Exchange report that it was backed up on the properties of the Database?
I will confess I haven't even tried to use Windows Backup with Exchange 2013, so don't know its behaviour or whether it is even able to backup Exchange - I always go straight for a third party product.

Simon.
which flavour of Exchange and windows are we even talking about here?
Can we have a list of errors that you get in event viewer, possible 9607 or 9840?
What is the status of VSS writers? Are they in stable / failed state pre-backup and post-backup?

These are the basic stuff that I'd look out for.

So, no errors in application and system logs - right?
