Restore Thunderbird email messages
This is a pop-configured Thunderbird 17.0.4 installation.
It was removed and reinstalled.
Now the user wants to get the old folders and messages back.
How is that done?
I'm not sure where to look for profiles and files, etc.
Nor, how to manipulate them once found.

I can't figure out those instructions because what's alluded to does not seem to exist at all.
profiles.ini???? Nowhere to be found.
I did find two profile folders and one is quite a bit larger than the other.
But I don't find any profile management tools.

You need to View Hidden Files and Folders to view the profiles.ini
Control Panel->Folder Options-> View tab -> Advanced Settings, scroll down to select the Show Hidden files, folders and drives.
Hit OK, and you should now be able to see the profiles.ini.
My profiles.ini is in this folder
C:\Users\[username]\AppDat a\Roaming\ Thunderbir d
If that doesn't help, maybe i can walk you through using the Profile Manager.
Also what version of Windows or OS are you running?

Thank you! That helps a lot.
depending on how or what was removed, if they didn't make a backup of the profile before uninstalling, they might not be recoverable. Normal uninstall however does not remove old profile.
