Cloud Option - vs - Small Business Server

I have a client that is not fond of spending money, but needs a new server and OS.  They are currently running on SBS2003.

I have not done anything with the "cloud" or Office 365 to this point.  Is there a good solution for an office with 4 users that really need exchange and file sharing.  That is all they really do with their current setup.  They do have two users that also have Macs and use Entourage to get their email.  They are a design firm and have very large files that are generally created in CAD programs.  Their current storage needs would be around 1TB for data.

Is there a cloud solution that would benefit them?

If its just 4 users Cloud could be a very good option .... no need of much hassle but you need to choose the plan according to your need if with Office365 they i guess have E1, E2 and E3 (All with different features)

Thank you, is there a particular company you suggest?  Assuming there is more than one hosting site?

Thank you guys!  This is the type of info I am looking for.  I really like the sounds of your solution BlueCompute.
You'll also need to add to my previous a backup solution and probably best open another question about the SBS2003 Exchange to Google / Hosted Exchange migration process.
We have an "SBS Replacement" cloud-based service which combines Google Apps for Business, Google Drive with added storage, and integration technologies to provide a cloud-based file service that works from both Windows and Mac desktops (as well as mobile devices).  The service includes backup/recovery and permissions monitoring/management as well.

With the new Quickoffice integration for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices, you can continue using MS Office on the desktop with Drive as the file service foundation.  You will be able to edit Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files on mobile devices, natively, as well.

I didn't close this yet, because I had the task of getting things rolling for the client and haven't had time.

I appreciate all the great advice and ran with it.  I moved the client to Appriver.com.  Hosted Exchange is up and running and they get the benefit of all the new Office products, ran locally from their machines.
