Cisco Chassis 6513 configuration

Hello all,

I'm looking for a good starting point, at configuring a Chassis 6513 switch.  I have experience in configuring 2950's, 2960's and 3560's, but am a little overwhelmed with the 6513.  I've been on Cisco's website a lot, but am having a bit of trouble knowing exactly where to start with the configuration.  This is refurbished equipment and has two Sup720 modules and a bunch of WS-X1648A's (48 port, gb, PoE blades).  This is replacing our Data Center configuration of a 3560 acting as a Core Switch and a bunch of stand alone 2950's and 2960's.  We just do inter VLAN routing inside our network, so I was hoping that it would be a pretty simple set up.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you!  This was exactly what I was looking for.  Some guidance on how to proceed with the cutover.  And thank you for the link to the config guide.  I don't know how I missed that when I was buried in Cisco's website.

One other quick question:  Once I move the old core over to the new 6500, I can just use the RJ45 uplink port to connect back to my network right?  As a trunk port?
Um... Can you add some detail to that? On a 6513 there are potentially hundreds of RJ45 ports...

I assumed that if the 3560 was the core, that all devices would uplink from the 6513 after the first cutover. All those uplinks would go in to one of your available line cards configured as they were with the 3560. Most uplink are configured as trunks. I try not to use the ports on the supervisors themselves if I don't have to, although many times I have customers that just need a couple 1/10G fiber links so I'll end up using them instead of purchasing a dedicated line card for fiber.
Sorry about that...that was a really dumb question, after I re-read it.  I was thinking about the uplink port on the Sup720 module.  But you're right, our existing core has all the other switches trunked to it so after I cut it over, I should be fine for a while.

And thank you for the quick reply.
