I've recently setup a new environment (Win8 and Visual Studio 2012) and have some MFC/C++ projects that were developed on Win7 with Visual Studio 2010. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
If I recompile with 2012, when the new EXE and DLL's are deployed to a customer PC, will I also need to distribute and include in my installer the visual studio redistributable for 2012?<br />

Microsoft Visual C++ (often abbreviated as MSVC or VC++) is an integrated development environment (IDE) product from Microsoft for the C, C++, and C++/CLI programming languages. It features tools for developing and debugging C++ code, especially code written for the Microsoft Windows API, the DirectX API, and the Microsoft .NET Framework. Many applications require redistributable Visual C++ packages to function correctly and are often installed independently of applications, allowing multiple applications to make use of the package while only having to install it once

Visual C++.NET

C++ is an intermediate-level general-purpose programming language, not to be confused with C or C#. It was developed as a set of extensions to the C programming language to improve type-safety and add support for automatic resource management, object-orientation, generic programming, and exception handling, among other features.

Most development for the Microsoft platform is done utilizing the technologies supported by the.NET framework. Other development is done using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for programs like Access, Excel, Word and Outlook, with PowerShell for scripting, or with SQL for large databases.
