PLC Mnemonics
I have an old 1986 ERFURT EFE 700 Programmable MiniControl equivalent to todays PLC's
I have to replace it with a more modern unit.
I need help in decoding the Software Logic.
It uses Mnemonics instead of LADDER diagrams.
I am familiar with some Mnemonic codes, but this one I am not able to figure out, especially the use of Parenthesis and such.
What I am trying to do is convert this old Mnemonic to Ladder Logic, so I can re-create the Logic in a more modern PLC.
It's a relatively short PLC program ( 15 pages ).
I attached a page from the Logic. If anyone is familiar with this PC logic, any help you can provide would be appreciated.

on the sample Mnemonic I know
Exxx are inputs
Mxxx are memory or registers
Axxx are Outputs
My new PLC uses
Xnnnn are Inputs
Rnnnn are registers
Ynnnn are outputs
If you look at the sample of the PC Mnemonic
the 4th line down is
M103=E003.
that should be simple and it's the first line in my sample ladder.
then if you look at line 9
M111=/E001.M494.
I'm not sure if the Dot means a logic OR
or
is this a logic AND
In my sample Ladder I have it created Both Ways.
The First is the OR logic
the 2nd is the AND logic
then I look at the First line.
M100=M101.E005+(/E005+E002
I have a hard time to decipher what that ladder logic would correspond to.

I believe that he plus sign designates AND logic
so then I would take from that, the DOT to designate OR logic

Do you have a description of the system?
Or even better, a formal specification?
Is it still running or is it dead? Who cares and how much?
Do you have a list of inputs and outputs?
Do you have the hardware and software manuals for the ERFURT (in English)?
What are the consequences of an imperfect software conversion?
Wasted paper? Serious injury? Death?
It might be time for a fresh start.
Or even better, a formal specification?
