Outlook 2007 Offline

I have a Windows 7 machine running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.  For some reason it is saying that it is "Offline".  It is retrieving mail and operating properly (so it seems).  We do NOT use Exchange (POP3) and I am unable to determine what the cause is or how to fix it.  I've tried repairing the installation and rebooting the computer.  Any suggestions?

We have a 3rd party handle our emails through POP3.  We only use Outlook as a client to download/read the emails.

I started with Experts Exchange in 2004 and it's been a mainstay of my professional computing life since. It helped me launch a career as a programmer / Oracle data analyst

I can ping the server - I'm receiving email from the server.  That is all this service provides.  I just want to know how to remove the error message in the syscon tray.

I don't know how I overlooked that but that's all it was.
