IP RECOGNITION FOR LANGUAGE DISPLAY for website language choice

Hi,

I was wondering if its possible to serve up the splash page of a website, based on its ip? If the ip is associated to a french user ip then the splash page comes up french. If the ip is associated to an english user ip then it comes up as english.

Is this possible?

Could you refer me to online material that can show me examples of this?

It would be for Drupal or Wordpress websites.

Kind Thanks,

Lorne

You'll want to have a look at geoip.
There is also the geoip module which refers to lots of other modules too:

Can I keep this question opened with you Serialband until I complete the project?
otherwise your first answer is the solution I think I am looking for.

When I implement I will try this Language header theory first.

Kind Thanks,

HOWEVER: Please make sure you give the user a possibility to NOT have the page in the detected language. I hate it when I am on vacation and the web interface changes to the local language
