IE8 Can only access HTTPS secure sites not HTTP sites
I recently did some registry cleaning with CCleaner and somehow I think this got IE8 screwed up.
It can only access HTTPS secure sites and not HTTP sites - hangs forever.
I have tried resetting the options, checking for LAN, removing XP SP3 and IE8 and reinstalling both, many other suggestions, etc. to no avail.
It is interesting in that I also have Chrome and Firefox and both work fine with secure and non-secure sites so I think somehow is it is a Security or a missing file or setting for IE8.
Any suggestions as this has been going on for weeks - thanks in advance

1. I'd try another browser first.
2. Try fixing system files by going to a command prompt and clicking sfc /scannow.
3. Make sure you don't have any add-on firewalls enabled. (Windows firewall only blocks in-coming not outgoing traffic.)
4. Try in Safe Mode.
5. Check Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings.
If none of these work you may be looking at a re-install of Windows.
