Preventing HTTP content copying / Hotlinking

Hi all,

We are putting a lot of effort into creating our our own content, both in photography and seo text.

How can you suggest I prevent people from copying it?

Is there a way to do that?

Thank you!

you can disable rightclicking on your website followed by a copyright popup.

there's also programs online that hide your sourcecode:

example : YKhoon HTML Protector

<!-- ********************************************************

This web site source code is protected by yKhoon HTML Protector.

******************************************************** -->

that's another way to prevent people from copying sourcecodes.

edit: there's still lots of ways to copy data by simply taking screenshots but that usually results in lots of quality loss...

Thank you for that - that seems to be more specific to Joomla but a step in the right direction nevertheless..

what about preventing copying using htaccess?
unfortunately I'm not too familiar with linux apache servers , yet. But what I do know is that you can restrict access to certain files such as the htaccess file.

I don't have a linux server at hand but the manpage should direct you to how to use authentication.

i quickly checked online and found this http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/howto/htaccess.html

hope this helps

The info about preventing hot linking is good... but if you put it on a visible page, I CAN get a copy of it.
I CAN get a copy of it.

Of course you can... hotlinking prevention is to stop bandwidth stealing, it does zero to prevent grabbing an image off of a page.
