My organization has been using Symantec backup for a few years, I have recently implemented a DAG configuration and the backups have started to slow down and even fail sometimes. According to Symantec I now have to install the exchange management tools in the backup server and assign the organization role permission to the backup account. <br />
The backup jobs are being done by another system admin and the vice-president of IT doesn't feel comfortable with this admin having any access to exchange at all. I was wondering if they're any tools out there being used just for backing up exchange (databases). Not sure if exchange has a build in tool for this. I have about 2TR in databases and my DAG consists of 3 servers.<br />
I will have to start backing up exchange myself.<br />

Exchange 2010 DAG Backup Solution

Exchange is the server side of a collaborative application product that is part of the Microsoft Server infrastructure. Exchange's major features include email, calendaring, contacts and tasks, support for mobile and web-based access to information, and support for data storage.

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud).
