Outlook cannot send Gmail due to a 0x8004010F error

I have a user set up with 3 email addresses inoutlook 2010. One is an exchange address hooked to our in house exchange 2010 server. The other 2 are gmail addresses. The gmail addresses will work fine when you intially set them up for a couple of days. Then they will both have problems sending. Going to the  send/receive tab shows the 0x8004010f error that outlook cannot access the Outlook data file. The only way to fix the addresses is to remove them and re add them. The user has been having this problem for some time. It happens on 2 different computers he uses.
Steps I have taken:
Delete and re-add - works for a day or 2
reset the profile and re-add - works for a day or 2
This user had other problems so I reimaged this machine same result
I have manually setup the settings and had it automatically configured. It makes no difference. Receive is not affected only send for those 2 accounts.
thanks

It is imap. Exhange address ost is 3.5 gb. The gmail addresses are .pst's and they are 22 mb and 54 mb. thanks
Thats pretty strange .... what if you dont add Gmail accounts ? Does it works fine indefinitely if so isnt it possible to create 2 Outlook profiles with Gmail and Exchange ?

- Rancy
The exchange account has always worked fine. Even when the gmail accounts are failing we can still send out of the exchange account.
One more piece of info. When I go to change the gmail settings I can send a test email out of the change account tab by hitting the test account settings button. It goes through fine but will not send a composed message out.

The user uses an iphone and ipad and a laptop in addition to the outlook computer. I always felt pop services were weak when it comes to syncing features. Am I wrong? Will Gmail pop sync with his iphone seamlessly?
Absolutely should sync.

I'll give that a go and let you know.
It should but depends how good it behaves and what happens if 2 Gmail accounts are used ?

- Rancy
I think the problem the user will have with pop is that his folders won't sync. Meaning if he files an email from his inbox to another folder that change won't show up on his other devices. Am I wrong? Also what does imap have to do with the smtp? I am having a send error. Are you thinking the imap is causing the pst to become corrupt?
I assume thats correct as in POP email is with the client not the server as in case of IMAP

- Rancy
IMAP has always had issues with gmail. Google it and you'd know, what all tricks users have tried to fix.

I have googled my face off trying to get this fixed. Fixes mention everything from setting it up again to deleting the profile and starting over to a OAB issue. No one has ever mentioned setting it up as pop. As no other users have this issue in my office I think it must be tied to this person's exchange syncing in some way.
as you said single Exchange account works smooth like butter .... so how do you say its Exchange sync issue ?

Look people have unique issue like your and every issue wouldnt necessarily be already tested by someone so something new always but troubleshooting can help

- Rancy
Appreciate the help. I will try some of the suggestions and report back.

Thanks eitan84. I have not tried that yet. It takes about 2 days to fail. So I don't know if my user would be ok not having work email on this computer. I should mention that the problem occurs on another one of his office machines with much less frequency. Again deleting the account and setting backup temporarily fixes it. All of the users other devices are ios devices and a mac. iphones use Activesync and macs use EWS. Thats what makes me think the outlook exchange connection might have something to do with it Rancy. 2 different windows 7 machines do this. One with much less frequency.
Why not simply ask him to use gmail web / instead of going through all this hassle, trust me - I normally use the app on my smartphone and gmail on web on my laptop, I simply do not try with OL for such stuff.

OL is best left to Microsoft Exchange.

User is leaving for vacation next week and I will be able to test everyone's suggestions. Again thanks for the help.
Perfect.

So your saying the issue seems not to have re-surfaced ?

- Rancy
Yes Rancy. I believe the problem is gone.
I have given credit to the great individuals who helped me work through this. Ultimately it became and issue of the .ost's becoming corrupt, and somehow cached mode has something to do with this on the machine.
