Can you add more than one aliase to a mailbox

apologies if there is an easy solution but i have been racking my head for 2 days, i have a domain with 20 users under SBS 2011 they currently get their email via a catch all email pop3 account using GFI essentials with exchange 2010.
                the problems occur when i try to configure aliase accounts for some of the users, i.e there is a generic account called info@domain.com and i wish several users to receive emails from this account alongside their uniquely addressed emails. they also want to receive emails which may have been mispelt or sent to an account which is no longer valid(active).
   some of the users also want up to three different email aliases.
when i go to their mailbox and go to the email addresses tab . there is an option to add additional email addresses however when i try to add i get;

Set-Mailbox
Failed
Error:
The proxy address "smtp:info@domain.com" is already being used by "domain.local/MyBusiness/Users/SBSUsers/info". Please choose another proxy address.

             i may be trying to configure incorrectly hopefully someone will tell me, I created an info@domain.com account in order to get the email address info@domain.com maybe this is an incorrect way ?
humbly seeking help from a wizard.

You can't add the same email address as an alias to multiple users but you can set up a distribution group, make those users a member of the distribution group and they will all get a copy of emails destined for that address.

To correct Rancy - an email account can have multiple aliases, but each alias address has to be unique in the organisation.
Alan I aint speaking about email alias ... but Mailbox alias and thats only one :)

- Rancy
Agree on that SAMAccountName cannot have duplicate values, you could however add multiple alias@domain.com in your email addresses (provided they are unique)

Thank you very much for the prompt responses gentlemen, firstly even though i understand Distribution lists i have never actually had to set one up, so to be clear is this done in exchange ? some pointers would be appreciated

also it seems that i have created unecessary accounts , it sounds like i only need one account and i can then add any unique email address i.e

george@domain.com can have ;

george_h@domain.com
h_george@domain.com
george.mary@domain.com

as long as there are no other accounts with that name....is that correct ?

rgds
You are absolutely correct on both points.

Also does this mean that if i delete those unnecessary accounts i will have to merge their email into one mailbox which i certainly haven't done that task before, i guess i will have to use powershell.
I also had an issue when i tried using an email that didn't have an account created , i got an error in GFI essentials saying Blocked directory harvesting. i guess i will have to switch of this function ?

regards
Could you explain it better? merge emails into one mailbox? What's this mean?

you got an error for GFI essentials? for what?

Regards,
Exchange_Geek
Firstly not necessary you have to merge its only if you need that email for some reason you can add to some account so email delivery can happen. you can do all from EMC as well as EMS ......

Look when you remove an address give time for update and then try adding ...... not sure about the GFI
