You put the maphilight() on $('.map'), for this to work you need to add <b>class=&quot;map&quot;</b> to your &lt;img&gt;. Now that puts a red circle around the areas on hover, haven't looked at the documentation yet, but would hope that some class can be set to make it light up yellow.
