Two IP’s required for Exchange 2013 DAG

Dear all,

The following link mentioned that: In this example, the MAPI network in each DAG member is on a separate subnet. As a result, the DAG requires two IP addresses, one for each subnet on the MAPI network.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638104(v=exchg.150).aspx

so is that mean I have to the below DAG with two IP, one from each site?

Note: I’m planning to install exchange part of the DAG in the remote site.

Thanks

i already follow the link, i even posted it in my question.

I'm asking to get the answer for what's mentioned?
Look its the same way we had one Network from Clients connectivity and one for DAG and Exchange Replication path so none is affected cause of each other and we have a smoother network in place :)

What's the confusion Rhala?

Exchange since 2007, the first time concept of CCR was introduced and later on merged into the concept of DAG - needed two IPs, one for replication and other for MAPI.

MAPI and Replication aren't to be mixed in terms of their subnets.

Check the Deployment Guide from MS
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638129%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

Read the Database availability group extended across two sites section, complete details are provided. If still doubt let us know.
DAG, in exchange 2010 and 2013, requires one IP address for each subnet it will be deployed in.

In other words if each of your exchange servers is in a different subnet then yes you need 2 IP addresses for your DAG, however only one will be active at a time

Dear all,

I'm not talking about MAPI & replication NIC, that's sure clear totally.

Let me describe my scenario:
1- HO DAG ip: 10.10.10.5
2- HO DAG include two servers from the same subnet 10.10.10.x
3- replication configured with 192.168.10.5 & 192.168.10.6 for both servers

Now, I need to install new exchange server in a remote site 10.20.20.x ... This server will be part of my HO DAG.

So what I'm asking about is, do I have to add an IP address from the remote site range to my DAG configuration, so the dag will have two IP 10.10.10.5 & 10.20.20.5?
yes i know you are not talking about MAPI and replication and that's what I told you, you need an IP for the DAG for each subnet where one of your exchange servers is installed
