Run Minecraft on Compaq CQ60

I am trying to get Minecraft to run on my Compaq laptop for my grandson.  It run OK on my HP desktop.  When I try to load the program, it says that it is unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.  My graphics adapter is Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.  The current driver is 8.15.10.2702 dated 3/24/12.  The Intel download center shows a graphics driver version 15.17.19.2869 (8.15.10.2869) for Intel® graphics, but when I try to load it, it says the laptop does not meet the minimum requirements for this driver.  Is there a middle ground of a driver update that the computer can digest that will support the Minecraft requirements - or an I just too far out of date on the laptop.  Is there a graphics card upgrade for the laptop that would be sufficient?  By the way, I have Windows 8 running on the laptop (32 bit).

Thanks for the help.

I think I had already come to that conclusion - just wanted to be sure that I hadn't overlooked a possible option.  We've already talked about getting a new laptop.  Just in a bit of quandary whether to go for a touch screen version.  It would seem that it might be a bit clumsy playing Minecraft on a touch screen.  Maybe there are options to use a mouse or the touchscreen.

Thanks for the information.
