Collapse folders in Outlook
In Outlook, how do I compress the folders that I see when I do a find then browse? What comes up now is virtually all of the folders expanded. I would like to see them normally compressed.

Hi dwabbott,
When you do the search, does it result in a list that is grouped by folders? Right mouse click on the grouping or the group header and see if the option is listed. I do not have Outlook Express, so if you can, send me a screen shot!

I start with Inbox - Outlook Express, click on the Find icon in the toolbar, get a Find Message window, click on Browse, then I get a smaller window with the heading Outlook Express and 'Select the folder:' I see a list of folders, most of them with sub-folders (which is what I don't want to see to start with), then no matter where I am with the cursor, or if I point to any folder or subfolder, right clicking has no effect.
I seem to recall that there is a preference somewhere where I can choose to display all subfolders, or have all folders collapsed where no subfolder is shown. I did not make a note of how I did it and now I can't find it.
There are various methods if I do a google search, but none of them seem to work for me.
Thanks for looking into this for me - do you have anything else I could try?

jcimarron - thanks for your reply. I have seen that page before, but I couldn't do what was suggested as I don't have a favorites list, at least I have not found one yet, and going to Tools, Options, etc., as suggested did not give me what I am supposed to see.

to kfalandays - I don't think we are on the right track. I had found a command somewhere that gave me just what I wanted but unfortunately I didn't make a note of it, and it was nowhere in the area of the 'Outlook Express - Select a folder' screen. I think I will just drop this for now. Thanks for your time and quick responses.
dwabbott-- If the Favorites command in missing, you are probably in Folder List, not Mail. In the Navigation Pane, click Mail

jcimarron - I don't see anything that looks like a Navigation Pane or any place to click on Mail. Can you lead me through this starting from either Outlook Express or the Start button?
