AN SMTP protocol error occured

Server Type: Server 2003 STD SP2
Exchange 2003
We Use ZoneEdit

Recently we were attacked by hacked mail servers. we got blacklisted at 3 different places tier 1. it has been about 2 days that we are no longer listed and everything has been resumed back to normal.

Except that some messages from some domain are stuck in my queue and are stuck on retry
highlighting  that folder allows me to see a message that states smtp protocol error

another folder states connection was dropped by remote host

no changes where made to the configurations on the server

Most emails are being sent with out a problem.

The fact that you are are off the blacklists doesn't mean you will get email delivered to all places. A lot of systems will cache blacklist list results. Therefore it can be some time before email can be delivered reliably. If you must send email to those domains, setup an SMTP Connector with a smart host, using your ISPs SMTP server as the smart host to get the email out.

Simon.
