Try using a different web browser and if that didn't work then it must be a corrupted version of firmware, I would suggest that you reinstall or upgrade the firmware.

give that a test.

I tried it with IE, Firefox and chrome and with all firmware versions starting from the default and then 7.5.1a, 7.5.2b, 7.5.4
Then it must be a hardware issue... could be the memory/harddisk is damaged.

I tried with three SPA501G phones and have the same problem on all
How are you providing power to the phones ? I think those phones don't come with power supply. they have POE port available.
Or it could be that you're missing this part of the user guide.

In page 46, check this user guide.

because I have found that this model of phone is the only one of cisco to have it auto-detect protocol SPCP and only by removing the auto-detect and changing the protocol in sip you can have access to the administration of the phone through the browser
